They are separate tools. Installing one does not install the other.

Install and verify mmx

The official package documents Node.js 18 or newer. Install globally and check the installed version:

npm install -g mmx-cli
mmx --version

Then use mmx auth login to sign in and mmx auth status to inspect the active account. mmx quota reports available usage. Follow the current official CLI reference for region selection and supported command options.

Configure an agent

The mmx agent setup wizard can configure a coding tool you choose. Review the target tool and configuration path before accepting changes. For direct model calls, the API guide covers endpoints and identifiers; for subscription limits see M Plan.

Troubleshoot authentication

For a 401, first verify that the credential belongs to the intended product and region, then check the CLI’s active account and current help output. API keys, subscription credentials and product sign-in are not interchangeable in every workflow. Avoid copying credentials into shell history or public logs.

Use mcode when you want a repository coding agent; use mmx for platform-level commands. This page is based on official documentation and has not been independently tested across operating systems.
