Access
Is MiniMax M3.1 Flash Still Free?
Free access depends on the provider and its current promotion; distinguish an expired trial, a quota limit and an unrelated Go subscription.
Check the provider, not just the model name
A model can appear through multiple providers with different pricing and quotas. A :free slug, cached search result or old launch announcement does not prove that a free endpoint currently accepts requests. Check the provider’s live listing and account dashboard immediately before relying on it.
Free access by provider
| Route | What to verify | Current guidance (checked 23 Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| OpenRouter | Exact model/provider route and current price | The launch promotion ended 22 Oct; check the live listing for any replacement route. |
| Ollama | Cloud listing and account quota | The listing’s launch free window ended 22 Oct; verify current account terms. |
| MiniMax Code / M Plan | Plan access and remaining usage | Subscription quota is account- and plan-based; see M Plan details. |
| Self-hosted weights | Hardware and license | Weights are downloadable, but running them is not a free hosted endpoint; see download and deployment. |
These are dated status notes, not a guarantee of account-level availability. Provider promotions can change without the model changing.
“Free usage exceeded, subscribe to Go” in OpenCode
That message refers to the provider and plan selected inside OpenCode. OpenCode Go/Zen and MiniMax M Plan are separate products. Check the full provider/model identifier and OpenCode’s own account or usage page before subscribing; changing a model name alone may not restore access. See OpenCode configuration.
Choose the next route
Use MiniMax API pricing for pay-as-you-go cost, M Plan for subscription quota, and Ollama cloud for its provider-specific route. Each route has separate terms and credentials.
